some stories

As much as we can plan and hope for what is to come in the future,
anything can happen...anytime.
That's why it's important to learn to adapt to ambiguity,
and we make it delicious by being excited and intrigued by it.

heavy competition

Today I went to my advising appointment to get all of my paperwork settled for my study abroad program application.  Here's how the conversation went down with the international coordinator:

her:  You do know this is a highly competitive program, right?
me:  Yes...
her:  For example, we already have ten applications (the application's due in 5 days),       and we only have two spots to fill.
me:  Oh wow...
her:  I see you haven't selected a second choice, would you like to do that now?
me:  No, thank you.
her:  I think you're making a mistake.  You're missing out on a great opportunity to study abroad.
me:  I understand that.  But I've travelled a lot in my life, and this is the program I've been looking forward to since I was in high school.  I see no point in spending the money to study abroad if I'm not crazy about the location or school.
her:  Okay.....you're choice.

To put it simply, I left the study abroad office feeling pretty bummed.  But after wrapping my head around the stiff competition and talking to Kelcy about it, I feel like whatever happens will happen for a reason.  If I get into the program, I have to go.  I was chosen to be only one of two students.  But it I don't get into the program, well then something good will come of that too.

If I do get in, I'll be able to:
Check out the Duomo.
Go on espresso dates.
Wait for the metro on my way to and from class.

Be one of those little figures walking around.
And visit all of these places on the weekends <3
But, then again, if the odds don't work in my favor...I'll be able to spend my entire Senior year with my best friends and family before starting a career and my "real" life.  If I don't get into the program I've been looking forward to since high school, I'll be here for Paige and Olivia's 21st birthdays, my Dad's birthday, all of the Fall holidays, and everything inbetween.  There are pros and cons to both sides, and now my fate is in the hands of the study abroad office.

Now I wait.

it conspires

Or at least I hope so.  Right now I'm focusing all of my energy on being in LA this summer.  And then being in Milan this fall.

So Universe....listen up.  "I will have an internship in LA this summer.  And I will get into the Milan study abroad exchange program even though the deadline got pushed forward so it's due 15 days before I thought. "

hellllo iPhone

Yayyy!!  So yesterday was the "estimated delivery date" for our Verizon iPhones!  I put in a request at pre-shift at work to get cut first because I wanted to set up my phone and play with it.  You would think that my coworkers and manager would have thought that wasn't a valid reason, but everyone seemed very excited for me.

So I got cut at like 12:30 and then Kel and I made our way to Phoenix to Mom and Dad's house.  It took wayyy longer than expected to get all the basics set up, but we finally did.  Now I've seriously been on my phone 24/7.  In fact I've been on it so much today that since the time I woke up at 8:40 til now 7:02...I only have 16% battery left.  That's how much I've been playing with it.

The apps I have so far are Words with Friends, Facebook (obvi), Retro Camera, Chipotle ordering, Shazam, and this addicting "Are you a moron?" game.  What apps do you suggest?!  Now for some silly pictures I took with my Retro Camera app.

to kelcy

This post is dedicated to my best friend, who just so happens to be my twin, Kelcy.
Not only is Kelcy beautiful, smart, hilarious, and fun to be around, but somehow she gets everything she goes for.  Oh, and she laughs at all of my stupid jokes and dance moves.  She's probably my favorite person EVER, and she will be sooo successful one day.
Most recently, she got an internship at a PR firm in LA this summer that she really wanted. It's the first one she tried for, the first one she interviewed for, and she got it.  Now our dreams of going to LA this summer are a reality, thanks to Kel's amazingness.  I just have to catch up now so I'm not the slacker sister without a summer internship in LA.

If anyone has any ideas or companies they know of that would benefit from an intern like me, definitely let me know!! <3

know and then knew

"It's sad when people you know become people you knew.
When you can walk right past someone like they were never a big part of your life.
How you used to be able to talk for hours and how now,
You can barely even look at them."

I think we all picture one, two, three, maybe four or more people that this applies to just in the time it takes to read the words.  I realized how many people in my life this applies to the other day when I was looking through all of my old facebook pictures [which I like to do when I'm bored...even though there are like a thousand of them].

But at the same time, even though it's sad, imagine where you would be if they were still a big part of your life.  Would you be the same person you are today? Would you be better? Worse? Would you have met the people that make you happiest in the present?  Change is good.  But there are those people who slip away and you wonder what your life would be like if they hadn't.

mmmbop

The 90's.  It's when I was born.  It's when I grew up.  The time of "Friends", Hanson, the macarena, N'Sync, The Backstreet Boys, "Boy Meets World", all the goodies.

When I heard there was a 90's party last night, I got so excited.  People always have 80's parties, and even though they're fun, it's not like I lived through them.  Plus, I didn't even have to go to Goodwill to put my outfit together!  Livs got her plaid for like $2, and Kelcy got her little white flower dress and jean jacket for a grand total of $6!
I seriously felt like I went back in time.

you will never

I'm always using these types of phrases:

"Enjoy your youth.  You'll never be younger than you are at this very moment."

It's true though!  It's just like when I'm hosting at work and customers come up to me and ask,  "how far away are we?" "is it almost our time to be sat?".  And I find myself saying, "don't worry, you're closer than you ever have been."  It's the same with my longing to be 21.  "I'm closer than I ever have been."

But back to the youth quote.  I want to start living by it, and I think I already have.  I'm going to stop saying "no" to hanging out with friends or going out when I have work the next morning.  And who cares if I have a late night food craving? If I don't do all of these things now, a ten years down the road when I'm so overrun with work, family, and the hassles of "the real world", I'll wish I could go back and do it over again.

And now for the only two good pictures taken last night:

I love this picture despite the fact
that we weren't ready at allll.

:(

You might be thinking that all I've blogged about lately is Coachella.  And you're right.
I am soooo sad that I missed my chance to go to Coachella once again.  I was going to finalize the plans and buy the tickets this week, but guess what?? They already sold out.  In like 6 days.
So here are some pictures for you all (and me) to look at.  I'm pretty sure they're all at Coachella.  It looks like I'll have to buy my tickets next year as soon as they are released.  Have fun to all of you who are going to be having the craziest three days of your lives.

I'll have to save my outfit
ideas for next time...

I consider you all very fortunate.

line up

I am crossing my fingers and toes in hopes that I can make it to Coachella this year!!  I know the tickets are expensive...and that doesn't even count food, merchandise, hotel, etc.  BUT, I've been dying to go and every year I keep saying, "I'll just go next year."  Well, I'm afraid that if I don't go this year, I won't go next year, and I'll never be able to experience those three days of adventures with my friends.
I'm excited for The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, Empire of the Sun, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Ratatat, Chromeo, Jimmy Eat World, Yelle, and Ellie Goulding!!  I'm sure there are many more bands I would love to hear, but I need tips from you all on what songs to listen to!!

What are your favorites?! If I do end up going, I want to know as many of the songs sung as possible :)

first day royalty

Today was the first day back to school.  This semester is going to be a tough one.  Kelcy and I decided to get all of our hard core business classes out of the way this semester.  But that means we have to take three of the classes we've been dreading, all at one.  And to top it all off, they're all in the same lecture hall.

But it was a good day overall.  And what made it that much better, was the Burger King King.  He was wandering the Memorial Union when Kelcy and I went downstairs to get our Jamba Juices.  I saw him meandering around last semester, but it was amazing to see him in all his glory on the first day of school!

I'm trying to forget that he was, in fact, kind of creepy.  Like how he snuck up on Kelcy and was literally centimeters behind her looking over her shoulder at the picture.  And when we turned around, shocked to see him so close, he simply gave us the "A-Okay" sign and walked away.

How were your first days back?!

hello again lovelies

Wowww.  It has been WAY too long since my last post.  If I were you guys I would have thought that I disappeared when the new year came!  But I'm back :)

My NYE wasn't spent at some extravagant party toasting with champagne and dancing until I had to kick my heels off.  Instead, I was at home with Kelcy and Paige, packing for our early morning flight to Kauai with my Mom and Dad!  We did have a toast, champagne thanks to Joel (Paige's BF), and a mini dance party.  Then we hit the hay, woke up at 5 in the early morning, and made our way to the airport.
Kauai was amazing!!  It was so much different from the other islands, but it was so lush and beautiful.  In fact, it was kind of chilly some days! Here are some pictures from the trip, and now you can see what I've been up to for the past ten days.
hat shopping in hanalei haha
Giving Kel a piggy back ride :)
horseback riding!
Kel and Paige with the coffee beans
The mini-plane we got to ride in!
(from the plane)
Where a scene in
Tropic Thunder was filmed!!
The part where Ben Stiller was a captive.
We got to talk into cool headsets
A HUUUUGE cave

Thanks Mom and Dad for the trip :))
It was so great to spend ten days with the parents and Paige since I don't get to see either that much when we're all back in Arizona.

Now I've got a day to do laundry, unpack, and then repack for my trip to California with Mom and Kel!!
