1987

Funny story.
So whenever I put my hair up in a ponytail...it's almost always angled to the side.  To me, it's just a ponytail.  To outsiders, it looks like I'm trying to play dress up in the 80's.

I didn't really think about how abnormal it was, until I was at work the other night.  I was minding my own business in the kitchen, when this guy walks in to pick up a to-go item.  He was looking at me with the "I know you..." face, so I said "hi".  I looked away...but he proceeded to look at me with that face.
Next thing I know, he's pointing at me and opening his mouth to speak.
I assume he's going to say something like, "Don't I know you from somewhere?"
But no.
He points at me and basically yells, "1987!! Side ponytail!!"
I was kind of in shock and couldn't really think of anything to say except, "Hell yeah."
I ended up being the employee that said "bye, thanks!" to him, and he just mumbled something else about the 80's.  And then when driving away, made it a point to turn around and give me a thumbs up.

Now that I look back on pictures...I'm frequently rocking the side-pony.
at the ASU undie run...
and when bungy jumping...

hello springtime

Arizona doesn't necessarily have a "winter"...but it did get below freezing this year!

{via}

It's time for cold drinks, laying by the pool, and even studying outside.

nostalgia

So yesterday was my Mom and Dad's 26th Wedding Anniversary.  (Should all of those words been capitalized? Weird...)

My mom gave my dad a really cute photo frame that looked like a street sign "Memory Ln." and it had a picture of them when they rafted the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon wayyy back when.   Before Kelcy and I were born.

It reminded me of all of the pictures I have of my mommy and daddy when they were around my age.  I hope my kids look back on pictures I have and think what I think when I see pictures of my parents: "Wow...they were soooo cool." Haha.

Enjoy <3
The one in red pants,
with her band: Tigerlily!!
Daddy playing football <3
Crazyy how style's are still kinda the same, huh??
The little set up I have in my room :)
P.S. Please give me movie ideas in the post below!!
I can't believe noooo one has any recommendations haha.

your assistance please...

Okay, so I need your help.

My friend, Elliott, lives in California and I live in Arizona.  The other day we found a cool feature on Skype where you can share a screen...which makes it super easy to watch movies together (but separate at the same time haha).

We want to watch more that neither of us have seen (we watched Casablanca last time), and I need ideas on movies that you all really like!!  Try and leave out the "chick flicks" since I'd be the only one enjoying it haha.

Thank you for your help!!! :)

plato's so wise

You know those new "memorable status updates" that keep popping up on the side of Facebook??  Well, thanks to that whole thing, I found a quote that Kelcy posted months ago.

It's by that Plato guy...the famous philosopher?  Anyway, it's beautiful.
{via}
"According to Greek Mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs, and a head with two faces.  Fearing their power, Zeus split them in two separate parts condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves."

tweety bird

Okay, so I caved in and got a twitter.  I used to be so against it, too!  I wondered why anyone would want to just do constant "status updates"...I mean it's basically like Facebook only without all of the cool stuff.  BUT...I got one.  And I can say that I am completely addicted.

So I don't really know all the lingo yet, but I'm trying.  And I think I'm getting better everyday.  It's also great just by the following aspect.  I follow the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and other Breaking News feeds.  It's amazing how much I didn't know about what's going on in the world (especially because I don't get channels at my house...we choose not to pay for t.v.).

Therefore, I encourage all of you to sign up for a twitter account and follow me.  And if you're already signed up...well then here's a simple little button for you to click on so that we can be twitter friends too <3

I have become newly obsessed with the youtube video: Marcel The Shell With Shoes On.
I'm even talking like Marcel.  I think it's the cutest little thing ever and here is the video so you can all enjoy and watch it.

And always remember, "I loooove youu."

back to school

Spring Break went by wayyyy too fast.  The first part was a lot of work since we picked up shifts in order to get shifts covered while we were cruising in the Bahamas!! :)
It was so much fun to just have a cute little mommy & me + Kelcy vacation.  My favorite day was probably when we docked in Nassau.  We had day drinks at Senor Frogs, went over to Atlantis and snuck into the aquarium/pool area/beach, took a taxi back to the ship, had our formal night dinner onboard, and then went back out again to party at Senor Frogs...complete with karaoke and conga line-ing !

And now for the pictures ---->

How were your Spring Breaks?!

the painted veil

Has anyone ever seen "The Painted Veil" with Naomi Watts and Edward Norton?  I hadn't even heard of it until I went searching for the origin of a quote I found on tumblr.

"Il y a longtemps que je t'aime, jamais je ne t'oublirai"
or, in English,
"I've loved you for a long time, never will I forget you."

It's a beautiful song lyric, in a beautiful language.  Just imagine hearing those words coming from the voice of the person you love.

summer internship

Yayyy!!!! I will definitely be interning at L.A. Models this summer!!

It's amazing what a random airport meeting can do to your future.
I'm so excited.  I'll be 2 miles from Kelcy's internship, right across the street from a Chipotle, and working with Kimberly (the girl I met at the airport) who is so funny and awesome.  This is going to be the best summer ever! :)

favorite photos

Day 11: Post your favorite picture ever taken of yourself.

This one's a tough one.  Not because I think I look amazing in every picture that is taken of me...but because I take SO many pictures.  Lately though?

My favorite picture is of me and Kelcy in New Zealand.  We were driving to another town, when the traffic suddenly stopped.  Why? Because there were hundreds and hundreds of sheep crossing the road!  They were beautiful.  So we hopped out of the car and Mom captured the following image.  Now when looking back at the photo, it takes me back to that exact moment.  And that's probably why it's one of my faves.
me on the left and kel on the right :)
After looking at the "New Zealand" album, it looks like most of my favorite pictures are from that trip.  Maybe it's because it was so green and vibrant there, compared to Arizona especially haha.

Favorite picture I've ever taken (of Kel):

And my favorite picture I've ever creatively thought about:

unwritten law

Saturday night I left the house for work thinking that I was going to meet up with the girls after and go to a party in Tempe.  But what ended up happening was sooo much more exciting.
my pretty friends <3

It turns out that while I was at work, Kelcy, Heather, Leanne, and Olivia went to Ra Sushi and the lead singer of Unwritten Law invited them to his show at the Marquee that night! VIP. And only an hour after dinner...he texted them inviting them to come hang out in the tour bus before the show.
Heather and Leanne watching
from backstage since they were 21!
I met up with them about ten minutes into the show. We got into the show without them checking our bags (since we were VIP and all), and the show was awesome.  After the show we walked right back to where the busses were.  We had to deal with some "groupies" that kept calling us names, but Scott invited us into the bus and we just listened to music and talked for the next couple of hours.
It was a blast and such an adventure :)  Check out some of Unwritten Law's music on youtube and myspace!  They're really good, and I especially like the acoustic versions.

flip a coin

"When faced with two choices, simply toss a toin.
It works not because it settles the question for you,
but because in that brief moment when the coin is in the air,
you suddenly know what you are hoping for."

I hope everyone's been having a good week.  It's midterm season for me, but Spring Break is next week!! :)

spring cleaning

My closet feels a little bit dated.  I have those clothes that I absolutely LOVE and probably over wear.  But I also have those clothes in my closet that I never wear...and they're basically taking up good hanger space.  I also LOVE my shoes...and I have a lot of them...but some are a little "high school".
One of the few times you'll see my
closet looking fabulous :)
So...I'm going to do some spring cleaning to my closet.  I will take the clothes I never wear to Buffalo Exchange and other consignment shops, take the shoes I never wear to the same place, and with the money I make (and a little from my bank account too) I will go shopping for some new classy clothes (and shoes) that I can wear in both LA this summer and in Milan this Fall :)   I have a feeling the clothes I will be buying will switch up my style a bit, but change is good.

What do you all think are some must-haves I should buy?!

milan: fall 2011

I got into the study abroad program in Milan this Fall!!!!!!

I was getting ready for work yesterday morning when I opened up my email and read the amazing news.  My heart was beating so fast.  I didn't want to wake Kelcy to tell her, but I just had to.  She was so happy for me, which made me even more excited and relieved.  I was in an EXTRA good mood all day at work, and was in disbelief all day.
I'd like to thank all of you that sent me good thoughts <3 Even I doubted myself (since there were only two spots in the entire program), but with the good vibes sent from my family, friends, and blog friends, I will be living my dream in six short months!! :)

More news to come, but I just wanted to update you all on the most amazing news that I've heard in all of 2011!!  (Except of course Kelcy's acceptance into her internship program in LA that guaranteed the two of us an AMAZING summer.)
